Casa Qui Marks Three Years of Boosting Latine Businesses
Running a successful small business can be challenging, especially for those who need more resources and support to thrive. That's where Casa Qui comes in. As a program-retail business incubator, Casa Qui provides a much-needed opportunity for small Latine women-owned businesses to enter the market at an affordable price.
Located in Adelante Mujeres main building as part of the Access Market Program, Casa Qui offers open retail space year-round, allowing Latine women vendors to sell their products beyond seasonal or event-based opportunities. But Casa Qui is more than just a physical storefront - it's a hub for learning and growth.
Latine entrepreneurs who participate in Casa Qui's program can learn the ins and outs of managing a brick-and-mortar business, from launching and managing inventory to designing merchandise displays and providing excellent customer service. This comprehensive program also covers sales, accounting, and marketing.
The store is modeled as a business collective, allowing vendors to develop leadership and professional skills. Technical assistance is also available to support participants, and workshops on emotional intelligence and effective communication are offered regularly.
On November 11, the Casa Qui community gathered for a special celebration to mark three years of supporting Latine businesses and welcoming a new cohort of four inspiring women. The cozy event was filled with delicious food and hot chocolate, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all attendees. It was a powerful reminder of the importance of community, support, and empowerment for Latine women from all backgrounds. She is the owner of Kuhu, a store that showcases her love for Mexican art and traditions. She was born in Mexico City and is the first generation in the United States. She entered Casa Qui to learn how to run a physical business and shape her skills. Her ultimate dream is to open a store in a multicultural environment where Mexican traditions blend with other cultures, creating a space where people can come together through art, culture, and traditions.
Margarita Reyes
She is a passionate entrepreneur from Oaxaca, Mexico, is the owner of Reyes Family Produce, a business that specializes in selling high-quality products from her hometown. Her love for her culture and heritage led her to Casa Qui, where she can share her passion with the world. Margarita dreams of owning her own store to promote the beauty of Oaxacan artisanal items in the future.
Rosalba Cuautle & Sandi Cautle
Rosalba, the owner of Sisters Creations, was born in Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico. With a desire to have her own business and spend more time with her family, she entered Casa Qui to understand the structure of a business and learn how to manage it. Her goal was to create a business with a pleasant atmosphere where people feel comfortable.
Sandi is the owner of Sisters Creations, a fashion brand she created with her sister to help people develop their own unique style. She was born in Cuernavaca, Morelos Mexico and entered Casa Qui to learn how to manage her business better. Today, Sandi continues to be a driving force behind the success of her business.
María Isabel Hernández
She is the owner of La Toxica Boutique, selling handmade products inspired by her Mexican heritage. Her dream is to maintain and share her culture through her business. She came to Casa Qui to learn about running a physical business and hopes to open a store in Hillsboro, Oregon.
