New Board Members 2024

We are proud that a majority of our Board of Directors reflect the community we serve. 61% of our board members identify as Latine, and 78% identify as women. Most importantly, 100% of our board members are dedicated to our mission, committed to our community, and make thoughtful decisions on behalf of the organization!

In 2024, we added three new members to our Board of Directors. Each of them brings vast knowledge and unwavering dedication in support of Adelante.

Ruby Ramirez, Philanthropic Program Officer – Early Childhood at Oregon Community Foundation (OCF), worked closely with Adelante before she became a board member. Adelante was a grantee of an initiative she stewarded, called Growing Master Trainers. She also worked with Adelante as a part of Early Childhood Coalition advocacy efforts, which aligns with her training as a social worker.

Adelante has many programs from which I personally, and/or my family could have benefitted from, in my youth,” says Ruby. “I also deeply appreciate that programs are delivered by staff that reflect the communities being served. I know the power that Latinas hold, when given opportunities to harness it.
— Ruby Ramirez

Benito Juarez II, a Principal Auditor at Portland General Electric (PGE), is a champion for promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in his work and personal life. His passion for empowering those affected by systemic barriers and his own lived experience led him to board service at Adelante.

I recognize that educating and empowering families can bring about meaningful change.

Oscar Rico-Cazares is the Director of Human Resources & Benefits at Latino Network. His experience with nonprofits, change management, and personnel is valuable as a board member. Oscar shares, “I am excited to be on the board of Adelante Mujeres because of the amazing impact the organization has had on the community. I joined the board in honor of my late mother, Araceli, a strong-willed Latina, who faced a lot of the same struggles as those who Adelante supports.

I want to offer my support in leading the organization in continuing its vision of envisioning a community where all families thrive!
