Join the Board

Thank you for your interest in applying to be a member of the Board of Directors for Adelante Mujeres. Applications are reviewed between January 1st and April 1st. Please complete this application no later than April 1st of the calendar year if you want to be considered for the Board.

  • Board members are expected to be able to attend in-person board meetings and retreats and must live within a reasonable distance to Forest Grove, Oregon. Conflicts of interest must be disclosed and applicants who have conflicts that cannot be mitigated will not be permitted to serve on the board.

  • Applying to be a member of the board of directors is a bidirectional process. Fit between the organization and the board member is essential. Once your application is received you can expect the following:

    1. You will receive a confirmation email acknowledging the receipt of your application and resume.

    2. Within two weeks, you will be contacted by a member of the Adelante Mujeres Governance Committee. Please note that this will likely be email from a personal email address of a Governance Committee member. At this time, a phone or virtual meeting will be scheduled.

    3. The meeting with the Governance Committee member will give you a chance to ask questions regarding the organization and you will learn what to expect of board service.

    4. If at the meeting it is agreed that you shall continue through the application process, follow-up meetings with the founder(s) and the Executive Director will be scheduled and completed by May.

    5. At the June Board of Directors meeting, all board candidates will have an opportunity to introduce themselves and the board will vote on new members in a closed session.

    6. New board members will begin onboarding in July and attend regularly scheduled board meetings beginning in August.

    Meet Our Current Board

  • Board members are expected to commit to the following:

    1. Attend regular bi-monthly board meetings, which occur both in-person and virtually.

    2. Attend special 1-hour monthly meetings, when scheduled.

    2. Attend two annual in-person board/staff retreats.

    3. Serve on a Standing or Ad hoc Board Committee in addition to regular board service and attend committee meetings.

    5. Act as an ambassador to Adelante Mujeres. Attend fundraisers and events, advocate, and connect with donors as you are able.

    6. All board members are asked to financially support Adelante Mujeres by making Adelante one of the top three organizations to which you give.
